Te Ako Ritenga Song

Well it HOOKS me in ‘cos it seems like fun
It HOOKS me in - That is number 1
We start our learning journey and we use our brains
That’s what it’s all about.

Te... Ako Ritenga
That’s what it’s all about

Next I WONDER how to find it out
And I WONDER who will help me out?
We're on our learning journey and we use our brains
That’s what it’s all about.

Te... Ako Ritenga
That’s what it’s all about

Let’s EXPLORE - that is number 3
Let’s EXPLORE another possibility
We're on our learning journey and we use our brains
That’s what it’s all about.

Te... Ako Ritenga
That’s what it’s all about

Let’s REFLECT and see where we’re at
Let’s REFLECT.  Do we need to go back?
We're on our learning journey and we use our brains
That’s what it’s all about.

Te... Ako Ritenga
That’s what it’s all about

Now it’s time to ACT.  Gosh we’ve learned a lot!
Time to ACT and show them what we’ve got.
We’ve done our learning journey and we learned a heap
Now it’s time to celebrate!

Te... Ako Ritenga

That’s what it’s all about

Headphones

Kia Ora Whanau,

We were wondering if you could please have a set of headphones brought into school for our kids to use while they are using the computers.

This way they will be able to listen to stories online without the sound going through the classrooms.

Thanks heaps!!

R E S P E C T!!!

Today for explore we have been focusing on how we TREAT people.  We have been listening to songs, watching videos and playing games that were based around cooperation and working well with others.

Our first game was the Tarp Flip

What did we do:

  • shared ideas
  • listen to others
  • gave everyone's ideas a go
  • shouted
  • used negative words
What could we have done better?:
  • listening to the teacher better so we can follow ALL of the instructions
  • not shouted at other members
  • cooperate
  • listen to every members ideas
  • use kind words
Our second game was back to back balloon race

How did we show kindness and respect with our partner?:
  • we remembered not to drag our partners - we did this be talking to them (communicating) and ask them if we were going to fast or not.
  • used our manners "please, slow down"
  • worked well together
  • we needed to listen to our partners
We then played over and under with our balloons...

the kids really enjoyed our session this morning.  It was great to hear and see our children showing respect by cooperating with each other and having a lot of fun!!!
