Going the Extra Mile

Hello to you all,

We have had such a blast with our latest inquiry into Art and telling a story without using words.  Some of our students are going that extra mile and continuing their work at home!

We have had students bringing in their pictures they have drawn after school and sharing them for news and a LOT of kids who are using their Explore - Genius Hour time to research some of their favourite artists.

Hunter Thomas has been creating his own Master pieces at home and sent me some of the photos.  Have a look at his creations...

If you have any examples of work, research or anything else you would like to share on the blog email me on tash@riverdale.school.nz and I will put it up.  Happy creating!!

We love Pae-Ake Fridays!!!

After morning tea we get to choose workshops that give us a chance to EXPLORE further some learning from the week.

Today we got to find out more about Paul Dibble.
He is a Palmerston North artist who makes sculptures.  He designed the library logo, and a sculpture that is in London.  He gave Palmerston North a $90,000 gift of a sculpture of the Huia which is outside the Square Edge in town.  We saw it on our trip on Thursday.

Then we got to have a go at making out own sculptures using clay!
It was trickier than we thought :)

We love Pae-Ake Friday!

We start the day with team PE - we all get to explore with a range of different PE equipment.  Today we were practicing uni-hockey skills, bouncing basketballs, catching tennis balls on the gutterboard and skipping.

We are improving every week!
