We have been looking at simple machines today.  Bill Nye the Science Guy has a video that helped us understand what simple machines look like in every day life.

Here are some examples:

Screws:

• spiral staircase
• car parks
• the Lido water slide
• Roller coaster

Levers:

• see saw
• fake limbs (arms and legs)
• crane
• catapult

Wheels:

• cars
• gear cogs on bikes

Ramps:

• wheel chair ramps
• skateboard ramp

Pulleys:

• sails on boats
• curtain rails
• flag poles
